Many Middle Eastern fashion designers have highlighted the specialness of Southwest Asian and North African communities this year. campaigns, collections, etc. This made us think that we should do a Top Arab Fashion Designers for 2023 list.
While this season is special, many brands promote the region year-round on fashion’s greatest stages and runways. Elie Saab and Zuhair Murad are famous for dressing celebrities, but they’re not the only ones. Middle Eastern designers gave fashion its most iconic moments.
Additionally, emerging Middle Eastern fashion designers are challenging the current quo. They’re modernizing their culture and tradition in dress, whether in the region or abroad.
Whether you like classics or trends, Southwest Asian and North African artists are worth watching. So, here our list of Top Arab Fashion Designers for 2023.
SAYRAN
Sayran, a Kurdish jewelry brand, reinvents classics. Sayran’s attraction comes from evil eye, pomegranate, and seven-eye symbols, Y2K, indie, and futuristic styles. Azadî—Kurdish for freedom—is the latest compilation, released on Nowruz.
TALA BARBOTIN KHALIDY
Tala Barbotin Khalidy runs a slow fashion brand in New York and Beirut. Khalidy works with artists in Lebanon and Syria to encourage local craft and culture. Khalidy’s hallmark techniques include crochet, patchwork, and elaborate designs in rich colors.
LE BAS
Lebas (Persian for garments) is a modern fashion and culture brand in New York City. Lebas blends Western and Middle Eastern designs with multi-functional gadgets, airbrushed clothes, and vintage-style tees.
DORIAN WHO
Iranian-Canadian designer Doriana established her brand in 2019. Her avant-garde streetwear, with creative silhouettes, eye-catching fabrics, and bright accessories, is inspired by creativity. She was a 2022 Canadian Arts & Fashion Awards Emerging Talent, Fashion Award contender.
AMIR TAGHI
Amir Taghi, a luxury ready-to-wear brand, appeared on the Golden Globes red carpet. Taghi uses his Texan and Iranian heritage to produce traditional designs with new accents as creative director.
AMINA MUADDI
Some may not realize that Romanian-Jordanian designer Amina Muaddi is famous for her bright accessories and unique shoes. Fashion Trust Arabia named her Entrepreneur of the Year in 2021.
MARMAR HALIM
Egyptian designer Marmar Halim runs this Dubai-based eponymous brand, worn by celebrities like Becky G and Huda Kattan. Her lovely evening gowns use beautiful fabrics and elaborate draping.
Nöl Collective
Yasmeen Mjalli launched Nöl Collective, a fashion brand conserving Palestinian artisans. Local artisans use plant-based dyes and hand made to perfectly make clothing for the label. Their spring collection features colorful hand-embroidered hearts.
YOUSEF AL-JASMI
Yousef Al-Jasmi dressed some of the biggest stars. The Kuwaiti designer has clothed Beyoncé, Chloe x Halle, Kylie Jenner, and others in beaded and real diamond outfits.
