The Israeli Ministry of Health has reported 153 cases of West Nile fever in the central region, with 11 deaths confirmed due to the disease.
West Nile fever is caused by a virus transmitted through mosquito bites.
In response to these findings, the Israeli Ministries of Environmental Protection and Health have urged citizens to take precautions against mosquito bites, adhering to the guidelines provided to support national efforts in curbing the disease’s spread.
To prevent mosquito bites, the ministries recommend eliminating stagnant water sources where mosquitoes can breed.
Symptoms of West Nile fever include fever, headache, nausea, vomiting, swollen lymph nodes, and a rash.
While the West Nile virus can lead to severe neurological illness in humans, 80 percent of infected individuals do not show symptoms.
