In a momentous event, three esteemed jury members of the Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year traveled to Korea to honor Kia with the award for the Kia EV9, which clinched the 2024 supreme accolade.
The distinguished judges – Shereen Shabnam from the UAE, Nicole Wakelin from the USA, and Sandy Myhre from New Zealand – presented the coveted trophy to Mr. Teckkoun Kim, Head of Kia Design Next Group, during the Busan International Mobility Show.
This award holds significant value for Kia, and Mr. Kim expressed that such recognition enhances the credibility of the EV9. “It adds a new dimension for customers when experts like your jury acknowledge the EV9, as you understand which electric vehicles or cars excel in consumer experience,” he remarked.
The WWCOTY delegation also featured in interviews for Kia’s official social media platforms, including YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Highlights from these interviews are expected to appear in a promotional video collaboration with Bloomberg Media, set to be showcased on their websites.
Additionally, Michael Choo of Kia Brand Communications conducted an in-depth television interview with the three WWCOTY jury members, exploring the theme: ‘How the Kia EV9 Became the Supreme Winner of the WWCOTY Award.’
Sandy Myhre (NZ) provided a brief history of the awards, noting the current number of jury members and the meticulous voting process, emphasizing that the EV9 emerged as a clear winner for 2024.
Shereen Shabnam (UAE) highlighted several unique design elements of the EV9, including its lowered hipline for enhanced interior visibility and the distinctive ‘star’ cluster headlights.
Nicole Wakelin (USA) elaborated on the innovative wheel design, explaining how the sporty spoke pattern creates an intriguing geometric effect on the wheel’s surface.
All three judges underscored the importance of the WWCOTY Award and its impact on Kia customers globally.
