Saudi Student Killed in Suspected Random Attack
A 27-year-old Saudi Arabian student, Sultan Mohammed Abdullah, was fatally stabbed in Cambridge, England. In what police are calling an unprovoked and random attack.
The incident occurred on the evening of Tuesday, July 30, near Logan’s Meadow Nature Reserve. A popular riverside park in the city.
Emergency Services Unable to Save Victim

Cambridgeshire Police said that emergency services were dispatched after reports of a stabbing. But Abdullah was pronounced dead at the scene despite their efforts.
The area has since been cordoned off as forensic teams continue to investigate.
Arrests Made: Two Men in Custody
Two male suspects, aged 19 and 20, have been arrested on suspicion of murder. Both are local residents and remain in police custody for questioning.
Authorities confirmed there is no known connection between the victim and the suspects. Reinforcing the belief that the attack was random and senseless.
“This was a shocking act of violence in our community,” said a Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson. “We are doing everything we can to understand what happened and ensure justice is served.”
Victim Identified as Anglia Ruskin University Postgraduate Student

The victim, Sultan Abdullah, was a postgraduate student at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge. Originally from Saudi Arabia, he was known among peers as a quiet and dedicated student.
The university has expressed condolences and is offering support and counseling to students and staff affected by the incident.
Saudi Embassy Responds to Tragic Killing
In a statement, the Saudi Embassy in London confirmed it is working closely with British authorities. In addition to Abdullah’s family to follow the investigation and ensure that legal procedures are properly handled.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic death of a Saudi citizen abroad and will ensure that justice is pursued,” the embassy said.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Public Assistance

Authorities are asking for the public’s help to gather more information about the events leading up to the fatal stabbing.
Anyone who was in the Logan’s Meadow or Riverside area between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Tuesday is urged to contact police or report anonymously via Crimestoppers.

The local community in Cambridge, including students, residents, and religious organizations, have expressed outrage and sorrow over the killing. Many have laid flowers near the scene, while others are calling for increased safety measures along the River Cam.
One student described Sultan as “humble, respectful, and always focused on his studies.”
